The name “Dang Wen Li” is a nod to “Dominique” in Cantonese. And it stems from a simple but important idea – to create a bakery especially for Hong Kong.
In this capsule collection, Chef Dominique uses his signature whimsical style and creativity but showcases pastries that are exclusive only to Hong Kong and unavailable elsewhere.

Dominique opened his celebrated Dominique Ansel Bakery in New York’s Soho neighborhood in November 2011. Centered upon the idea of creativity, the Bakery is the birthplace of many of Dominique’s signature desserts, including the DKA (Dominique’s Kouign Amann), Cookie Shot, Frozen S’mores, Blossoming Hot Chocolate, and the Cronut®.

In April 2015, Dominique launched his second NYC shop, Dominique Ansel Kitchen, which features a menu of more than 70% items that are made, finished or assembled to order. The West Village location is inspired by Dominique’s belief that “time is an ingredient.”

Shortly after opening Dominique Ansel Kitchen, Dominique launched U.P. (short for “Unlimited Possibilities), a revolutionary after-hours dining experience that begins with a table that descends from the ceiling into the center of the 2nd floor kitchens, where guests enjoy a tasting menu centered around a theme which changes every 6 months, complete with drink pairings.

Chef Dominique brings his creations to the West Coast for the first time with the launch of Dominique Ansel Bakery in Los Angeles. Opened in November 2017 on the 1st floor of a two-story space at The Grove, the bakery offers some of Chef Dominique’s most celebrated pastries, along with brand new creations made exclusively just for LA.

In November 2017, Dominique launched his first-ever restaurant in LA at The Grove. The name references our original NYC home (at 189 Spring St), which coincidentally is also our LA address (189 The Grove Dr). It was meant to be. Serving dinner nightly, the menu features creative & modern American cuisine, while our Weekend Table takes brunch to a new level with a family-style communal feast.
Dinner: Mon-Tues 5-9pm, Wed-Sun 5-10pm

Dominique Ansel Bakery London
In September 2016, Dominique opened his eponymous bakery across the pond in London’s quaint Victoria/Belgravia neighborhood, marking his first shop in Europe. Dominique’s vision for his UK bakery was to bring a sense of wit, humor, and old-school charm to pastry, with a menu featuring brand new creations made exclusively for London, along with our recently-launched and first-ever Afternoon Tea service.
